VGA 10: Is This New Game Just a MGS Trailer In Disguise?

Amazing Trailer for The Phantom Pain may be a fake

By Tanner Hoisington on 12/7/2012
In a bizarre (and seemingly fake) trailer for a game called "The Phantom Pain," a developer called Moby Dick Studios showed a survival heavy game with a cool style, intense action, and allegedly 100% gameplay. There were no listings for a game developer called Moby Dick Studios until just now, and by visiting their website under the about us page it says the studio's CEO is Joakim Mogren (Joakim being an anagram of Kojima). And as pointed out in this Neogaf thread the character whose face is never shown does bear a striking resemblance to Big Boss.

This makes sense, because in last December Kojima posted a tweet saying:"From next yr on, announcing new title @ VGA may become a trend rather than announcing @ E3."

The trailer shows a soldier waking from a coma and crawling out of the burning hospital he was laying in, eventually into the mouth of a giant whale.

Again this is all currently speculation, but who else but Kojima would make something as bizarre as this (and at such a high quality - the game looks like it is running off Fox Engine)? The Neogaf thread is exploding with users examining the trailer and while there is no guarantee this is Ground Zeroes, it is definitely a Metal Gear Solid game. And if it isn't, my apologies go out to Swedish CEO Joakim Mogren.

That is too bad, it seemed like a fun event.

It was definitely their best attempt yet, even if it lacked some of the shocking reveals of last year's show.
