Tomb Raider Reboot Tumbles To 2013

Fans will have to wait another six months to see Lara Croft reborn.

By Dylan Coffey on 5/14/2012
After last year's E3, we were happy to give you a look at the details regarding the Crystal Dynamics Tomb Raider reboot. We even gave the Lara Croft re-imagining a nod in our Best of E3 awards last year. Suffice it to say that the Tomb Raider reboot is a large blip on our radar. Unfortunately, the game has been delayed from this fall to spring of 2013. The reasons for the delay are industry standard: "the additional development time will allow us to put the finishing touches into the game and polish it to a level that you deserve," said Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamic.

In exchange for this disappointment, however, Crystal Dynamics has confirmed that Tomb Raider will make an appearance at this year's E3, unlike, say, BioShock: Infinite. While we'd much rather have the game itself this year, some insight in to the fundamental changes Crystal Dynamics is making to the classic Tomb Raider formula will be more than welcome. Right now, we know precious little about just how far the new game will stray from the original. What do you expect? Let us know below!

First Bioshock, now Tomb Raider? Well, I guess it gives me more time to set aside money for the (hopeful) special editions. I'll definitely be looking forward to E3 to see more of the new game.
