Super Monday Night Combat Rundown

This MOBA-shooter hybrid might change the genre forever.

By Dylan Coffey on 4/9/2012
Monday Night Combat is a fun game that still holds value despite being a few years old at this point. Uber has decided to capitalize on the MOBA craze in conjunction with the success of  Monday Night Combat to bring us  Super Monday Night Combat, which is far more of a sequel than other games with "super" in the name have tended to be.  Super Monday Night Combat mirrors the structure of a MOBA like  League of Legends in that it offers a number of characters (called pros) with rotating availability, a free-to-play microtransaction model, and even a jungle. Check out this video for more details.

The retention of  Monday Night Combat's visual style and themes combined with some innovative ideas like the implementation of MOBA structure in a shooter, rather than a strategy game. We're imagining a focus on farm and intelligent splitting of cash earned between upgrades, base improvements, and bot spawning plays. We're most excited to see the variety of pros that Uber will cook up to flesh out the five categories they introduced in the video above. What do you think of  Super Monday Night Combat, at least in theory? Let us know in the comments section below.
