Saints Row: The Third Launch Trailer Is Just Plain Silly

We love it despite ourselves.

By Dylan Coffey on 11/15/2011
Saints Row: The Third has an online pass, a season pass, and apparently a pass to blow the doors off of the realm of sanity. Everything we've learned about the game, from Professor Genki to the Saints Row Penetrator, points to it being one of the most absurdist, over-the-top open-world experiences since, well, Saints Row 2. Even before its release the game was taking shots at Gears of War, Grand Theft Auto, and pretty much all of Japan, and yet nothing seems to be enough for the folks over at THQ. To comprehend this ridiculousness in one 1:19 burst of lunacy, watch below. It may go without saying, but this launch trailer is not safe for work...

After that, we can add T-Pain, the Roman Catholic Church, car surfing and of course god damn tigers to the list of things made light of by Saints Row: The Third. The sheer frequency of explosions and skydiving - often combined - that we see in this launch trailer confirms that, if nothing else, the action is fast, furious, and at times freaky. This writer is excited to discover the point at which the game's narrative necessitates the use of rocket-powered motorcycles, the punching of fighter jets, and/or the graceful combination of ballet and fully automatic weaponry. Saints Row: The Third is just plain silly and we wouldn't have it any other way. THQ's open world crime game was released today, and is available on XBox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

I feel like Saints Row needs the humor because thats what really sets it apart from being a wanna be Grand Theft Auto.
