Mysterious '1666' Trademark Filed by THQ

Whether A Year Or Just A Series Of Numbers THQ Has Us Intrigued

By Nick Schneider on 3/17/2012
THQ has been having their share of economic troubles, but with the release of highly anticipated Darksiders 2 around the corner, plus UFC Undisputed 3 reaching the third spot on the NPD sales chart for February, there does seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel. It appears that THQ has filed a new trademark for video game software under the name of 1666  , and with almost no information available has lead to the internet searching 1666 to see what is significant about those numbers. Here are some results we have found (from Wikipeidia) that would provide an exciting set piece for a game.
  • Louis XIV founds the French Academy of Sciences (Academie des Sciences)
  • The Dutch and English are at war during the Second Anglo-Dutch War
  • The Great Fire of London
  • Sir Isaac Newton uses a prism to disperse sunlight into its component colors
  • This is the only year when the all the Roman numerals are used only once and in order from largest to smallest MDCLXVI=1666

Allow your minds to sink in some of the possibilities, because the game could very much just be a completely random set of numbers without any actual influence from history to be seen. Although a puzzle game surrounding prisms and dispersing light into its components could provide for some entertaining mechanics.

Another possibility is the Apostasy of Sabbatai Zevi (also found from Wiki) His life is really interesting.

Would definitely prefer a puzzle game with prisms though. That sounds like a lot of fun!
