E3 2011: Rayman Origins Gameplay Footage - No Arms. No Problem

In what is looking to be the most visually stunning 2D game in ages, Rayman Origins certainly has a lot going for it.

By Josh Garwood on 6/8/2011
Whether they know it or not, in my mind Bastion, Wakfu, and Rayman Origins are all competing for the most beautiful hand-drawn game on the market.  After seeing all three in action it's hard not to give the nod to Rayman.  While each are visually stunning in their own right, Rayman Origins just seems to have a more hi-res look to it.  Though it may be difficult to tell by the video below, everything in the world, from the characters to the animated backgrounds, are all vividly drawn and rendered in gleaming high-definition.  I  haven't had a chance to actually play the game yet, but I hope to have some hands-on impressions ready by the end of the week.  In the meantime get a load of the armless wonder below.

It really really is. Seeing it in person was literally jaw dropping. Having seen a number of beautiful 2D games at E3 (Bastion and Wakfu, for instance), the fidelity of the visuals in Rayman is just untouched. The gameplay is a little confusing at first though, but once I got the hang of it I had a lot of fun; 4 player same screen co-op FTW.
