Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 Announced

Gabriel is back and he's not looking very happy

By Daniel Jones on 6/1/2012
Players familiar with the first Caslevania: Lords of Shadow know that the twist ending hinted at the potential for a very interesting setting in the sequel. However with the official announcement of the second installment in Mercurysteam's 3D Castlevania offshoot, it looks like the team will be exploring the downward spiral of the game's protagonist Gabriel Belmont, rather than the aftermath of the first game's epic conclusion.

In the new CG announcement trailer, Gabriel is shown mowing down legions of soldiers who don't look particularly evil. The ways in which he defeats them are particularly compelling. Warning: if you haven't played the first game this trailer could actually hold some spoilers for that game's twist ending. That should give you more incentive to go play the first game because it is definitely worth it. Lords of Shadow 2 doesn't have an official release date yet but more information should be available after this evening's Konami E3 press conference.

That trailer is fantastic! I love how game trailers are looking like they could also become great movies. If only that were actually the case.
