BioShock: Rapture Novel is Washing Up on a Bookshelf Near You

A prequel to the first BioShock game has crawled its way into paperback (and hardback).

By Justin Hellstrom on 7/20/2011
Novel tie-ins to game universes are becoming more and more prevalent, and the release of BioShock: Rapture is a welcomed addition to that list. Written by John Shirley, Rapture is a prequel to the first BioShock game, with events in the book spanning from the city's creation to beginning of the original Bioshock title. You'll run into some familiar quotes from some familiar characters before the book kicks off with its seven page prologue in New York City. You can read both the prologue and a few pages of the first chapter at Amazon with the "look inside" feature.

The style of Shirley's writing seems strangely reminiscent to Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged which has heavy influences on Rapture's story and ideals. That may simply be due to both stories taking place in the same time period, or it could be intentional. If you're still hesitant about picking up the prose you can wait over the weekend for our review of the book.  Stay salty, Rapture.
