What Twitter Thinks of Randy Pitchford

...and Aliens: Colonial Marines

By Whitney on 2/20/2013
"What Twitter Thinks of..." is a new article series that explores the world of Twitter and what users think about any interesting game-related topics. Whether it involves trending topics, controversies or new game releases, Twitter users always have something to say....so we figured we'd round up the best tweets about a topic and showcase them for everyone to see!

This week's topic is Randy Pitchford and the recent controversy surrounding  Aliens: Colonial Marines. The game was a complete failure according  to  many  prominent  gaming  sites (including us). John Walker from Rock, Paper, Shotgun posted a hilarious play-by-play record of his experiences with  Aliens: Colonial Marines, which you should read if you want a general idea of just how bad the game really is. The source of the controversy comes from the questionable comparisons between the demo shown earlier in the year versus the final product. The demo is, to say the least, very different from the final product.

Many have asked just how involved Gearbox was in creating  A:CM, and Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford took to Twitter to defend his game. Several fans lashed out at Pitchford, asking him for refunds or just generally criticizing the game. Others bluntly stated "the game sucks" and how disappointed they are with the final product. Some of the tweets are downright mean; but some are also hilarious. One user even points out that many of the tweets seem fake since "4 out of 5 tweets are supporting your game." Take a look at the mash-up of conversations below, and let us know what you think in the comments section! Also, note that The Game Effect enjoyed Borderlands 2 A LOT, and even though we didn't feel the same for Aliens, we'll wait to pass judgment until we know all the facts. For now, we're just relaying some of the things that have been said on the old tweet box.

Jim Sterling is doing his regular trolling, but he certainly seems to have a point. And judging by the retweets, people agree.
