Five Gaming Shirts That Will Make You the Epitome of Cool

Treat yourself to a post holiday gift

By Daniel Jones on 12/30/2011
Now that the holidays are over, we all have that small list of things we wanted but didn't receive. For me, one of those things was any one of several awesome gaming tees. When push comes to shove, we'd all rather get a new game over a new gaming shirt. However, if you're anything like me, you're likely going to treat yourself anyway. The week after Christmas is one of the busiest shopping weeks of the year for that exact reason. As such, please allow us to tell you about some rather epic video game shirts you may want to consider for your 2012 wardrobe.

Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Shirt from The King of Games

 Embedded Image

This shirt is absolutely legendary. We've all seen Zelda t-shirts before. They even sell them at Target, but this one is pretty exclusive. Embroidered with the tri-force logo surrounded by Link's essential items including bombs, rupees, keys and arrows, this shirt will make you feel like the hero you were born to be. On the back, the Zelda 25th anniversary logo makes this limited time shirt the video game equivalent to that old Red Sox 2004 Championship Tee I have stored away in the closet, only way more awesome.

The Bastion Caelondia Masons T-Shirt from Supergiant Games

 Embedded Image

The team at Supergiant Games created a beautiful world for Bastion, full of color, wonder and mystery. They have supported the game in many different ways since it's Summer of Arcade release, such as offering the game on Google Chrome, releasing a free DLC, and designing several pieces of merchandise including my 2011 soundtrack of the year, and this sweet t-shirt.The shirt doesn't have the Bastion logo on it anywhere, making this shirt one that your friends may not even understand, but that fact only makes it more bad-ass. The team wisely chose not to design the shirt around the games plush colored art style, which is brilliant in-game, but probably wouldn't translate to apparel very well. It comes in crimson, olive and black.

Skyrim "We Know" T-Shirt from RedBubble

 Embedded Image

Sure, there are t-shirts for sale with the Skyrim logo on them, but where's the mystery in that? The Dark Brotherhood are mysterious and this shirt is like a secret handshake between you and anyone else who knows what that cryptic hand print means. And sure this shirt could be applicable to The  Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion as well, but we're all playing Skyrim right now, so let's just pretend for the sake of pertinence. And of course there are shirts available that sport the"arrow to the knee" meme, but those will go out of fashion just as fast as the "Cake is a lie" shirts did. Speaking of Portal...

Portal 2 Aperture Laboratories T-Shirt from The Valve Store

 Embedded Image

There is a vast assortment of shirts based on Portal including the aforementioned "Cake is a lie" shirts and also the more recently applicable "Spaaaace" shirts. However, none of them are as classicly cool as this 1980's era Aperture Laboratories shirt. For those who know the game, this shirt makes us think of the waning days of Cave Johnson, the Caroline epiphany and GlaDoS as a potato. For everyone else, it might look like you're just really smart and work at a science lab somewhere. Either way, you're going to look cool. I guarantee it.

Half-Life 3 T-Shirt from Valve Employee's Back

 Embedded Image

Ok so maybe this one's cheating since it's not exactly for sale (at least not legally), but that doesn't mean one can't dream. Seriously, if Valve were to start selling this shirt on its website, I guarantee it would be a hit. It is already a beacon of hope for fans who are starving for any kind of news on the inevitable conclusion to the Half-Life saga. Imagine having the chance to literally wear that hope on your sleeve. What Half-Life fan wouldn't want to show their demand/support for this game by purchasing this shirt? Get on it Valve, if we can't have the game, at least give us the shirt!
  • Listed price: Priceless!

That Zelda shirt.... I must have it! But $60 is just way too expensive; its more than a copy of Skyward Sword. Is there any way to add the shirt to my wishlist?

Wow, i didn't expect it to be that much money. I agree that is way over priced. I don't understand how they justify that, i would really like to know.

The Zelda and Bastion shirts are definitely works of art, I'd rather have them on my wall than on my chest. But I could go with the ApLabs shirt in a heartbeat, I like the simplicity. It would go well with my Umbrella Corps. shirt...
