This review is copied and pasted directly from Gamespot I believe, which is also known as plagiarism.

I have to agree with much of what you're saying here. While there is still innovation popping up everywhere, part of my concern is the near forced pressure to innovate. When in those situations we get things like the Wii, which I personally do not care for, and am frustrated by the motion controls it has spawned. I'm all for innovation, but not if it compromises the core essence of traditional gaming (I'm the gamer equivalent of an old man stuck in his ways I suppose).

Aside from that though, sometimes it's alright for a game to simply perfect its craft rather than bring something entirely new to the table. I have thus far found Battlefield 3 to be amazing, much due to the incredible Frostbite 2 engine. It's why I chose BF3 over Modern Warfare. Speaking purely of graphics and presentation, it's frustrating to see how much money Activision makes off of that franchise, and yet doesn't offer much of anything in the ways of graphical, animation, or audio improvement (at least when compared to what BF3 has done).

Looking into the future, I totally agree that the F2P and microtransaction models are going to become more and more prevalent; much to my chagrin. I like the idea in concept, but I can see it turning into gamers being forced to pay for a game in perpetuity... I hope it doesn't come to that, but 5 years down the road, I suspect almost everything will be subscription based.

In the meantime, I'm going to soak up my Uncharted 3's and Battlefield 3's while I can. And if all else fails, we'll always have the classics.

I think it would be easier to understand your opinion if you provided more details on why you feel this way. It's difficult to really know what you're drawing from because the article is so short. Having more context would help a lot. Not trying to be rude, but just wanted to let you know of ways to possibly get more support.

Though I totally agree that Battlefield 3 is a more compelling game than Modern Warfare 3, I think that first screenshot is from Far Cry 2... Though I may be wrong.

It definitely wasn't the best game out there, but the combat, incredibly detailed character models, animation, poignant voice acting, and truly epic score more than made up for its shortcomings elsewhere.

In general though, the first 60% or so of the game was hit or miss for me. Then, the last 40% was quite incredible, with the final boss battle being one of the most memorable of this generation for me (in large part because of the incredible orchestral score in the background). I haven't given it a try yet, but this review definitely makes the game sound worth playing.

I'm not sure I agree so much here. Third person shooters are my favorite genre. From Metal Gear Solid to Uncharted, I find them to be incredible games.

As for being able to see what's going on around a corner, I can understand that. But at the same time, everyone can do that, so it's all relative. It'd be different if the noobs could see in third person, but no one else could.

In general, I just like the look and feel of a third person game. You get a better feel for your character, and for single player games, get to connect with them more (if the animation is done well).

MGS is definitely my favorite franchise of all time, but then again I'm a sucker for epic single player campaigns. Thinking back to the original Metal Gear Solid on PSX brings back some awesome memories for one of the best games ever made, in my opinion. Playing it today will probably feel a bit stiff, as the controls are not modern, but the action, characters, level design, and story are all worth checking out.

So in short, if you have some time on your hands, I would recommend starting with MGS, then going to MGS2, then MGS3, and finally MGS4. While chronologically MGS3 is the first in the series, playing MGS and MGS2 before that one will help to give some context to what's happening there.

And for me, MGS4 is still the best game of this generation (and maybe ever). The cinematics rival some of the top AAA action movies, and octocamo is one of the coolest features I've ever seen in a game. Clearly I'm biased, but this is a great series worth experiencing.

THIS. IS. SPARTAAAAA!

Haha, you get that this is a parody right? While it's entirely possible that Epic would do something like this, it isn't actually happening... yet.

Hahahaha! You're the deuce I never wanna drop. One of the best lines I've heard on this show in a while.

Great review!

I couldn't agree more with this. Regardless of how great Skyrim and LoZ:SS will likely be, it's a huge disservice to the entire purpose of an awards show... How can you possibly nominate something for BEST GAME OF THE YEAR, when it hasn't even release yet?

It's not that these games won't be deserving, it's just the principle of the issue that irks me.
